• Making mistakes in the learning process is inevitable. Mistakes are beneficial to your future success when you know how to deal with and correct them.

Q. What is a learning portfolio and how it helps your learning?
• Make a learning portfolio that contains your academic work. Use this portfolio to review your learning progress.

Q. How to build up confidence through contributing to your school?
• Actively participate in school activities in which you feel competent.

Establishing self-esteem

Q. What can be done to enhance self-recognition and confidence?
• Keep a diary or journal regularly about your school work. Write down what satisfies you about your work at school.
• Write down your unique strengths, discover your interests and recognize your skills.

Q. How to maintain your own identity?
• Maintain your self-identity by speaking your L1 with family members.
• Value your home culture and traditions by participating in activities and festivals held by your community.

Prepare for college

Q. How to prepare yourself for college?
• Think about college as an important part of your future. Discuss your thoughts and ideas with your family and with people at school.
• Take challenging and interesting classes to prepare for high school.
• Ask your parent or guardian to help you research which high schools or special programs will most benefit your interests.
• Develop strong study habits.
• Do your best in school and on standardized tests. If you are having difficulty, don’t give up—get help from a teacher, tutor, or mentor.
• Become involved in school- or community-based activities that let you explore your interests and learn new things.
• Speak with adults, such as your teacher, school counselor or librarian, relatives, or family friends, who you think have interesting jobs. Ask them, “What do you like about your job?” and “What education did you need for your job?”

Q. How to enhance connection to your classmates?
• Establish positive friendship with your peers through caring and sharing experience.
• Actively interact with other students through classroom discussions and school activities.

Q. How to mutually respect each other’s home culture in a diverse learning environment?
• Discuss your home culture with other students when appropriate. Also, be respectful of your peers’ experiences, home language and culture.
